today I watched the sun
paint gold and mauve clouds
with rays that pierced a crown
through the rippled changing sky
we are water and matter and patterns,
mutable and unmuzzled
free to be
scattered breadcrumb building blocks
that we can make become
ways I am more animal than human: I like to let my body do what it does
use my shadows as a mirror
let my silhouette be enough
look on the bright hand side
being seen by friends is a miracle
there is fear I feel ready to disbelieve
today we woke up
with the neighborhood rooster at sunrise then spent the day walking. we followed the red road
home at sunset and found a world atlas for kids. picked it up to see if we could learn
something. we did. the sunset streaked pink and blues and we met in the middle,
genderless.
we passed the house that snores loud as a motorcycle. the palm fronds twinkled in the wind like pom poms which looked like fireworks which looked like stars.
this is what they are afraid of, we saw
the most magical parts of the world
are at the swirl of duality:
us, dusk
twilight, sunrise, love
or when the sun finds the moon in one sky
